Hymn of Praise to Jesus II

Hymn of Praise to Jesus II

Jesus, the very thought of Thee with sweetness fills the breast!
Yet sweeter far Thy face to see and in Thy presence rest.
No voice can sing, no heart can frame, nor can the memory find,
a sweeter sound than Jesus' name, the Savior of mankind.

O hope of every contrite heart! O joy of all the meek!
To those who fall, how kind Thou art! How good to those who seek!
But what to those who find? Ah! This nor tongue nor pen can show -
The love of Jesus, what it is, none but His loved ones know.

Jesus! Our only hope be Thou, as Thou our prize shalt be,
in Thee be all our glory now, and through eternity. Amen.

Hymn of Praise to Jesus

Hymn of Praise to Jesus

O Jesus, King most wonderful! Thou Conqueror renowned!
Thou Sweetness most ineffable! In whom all joys are found!
When once Thou visitest the heart, then truth begins to shine;
then earthly vanities depart; then kindles love divine.

O Jesu! Light of all below! Thou Fount of life and fire!
Surpassing all the joys we know, and all we can desire.
May every heart confess Thy name, and ever Thee adore;
And seeking Thee, itself inflame to see Thee more and more.

Thee may our tongues for ever bless; Thee may we love alone;
And ever in our lives express the image of Thine own. Amen.

Te Deum Laudamus

Te Deum Laudamus

 WE praise Thee, O God; we acknowledge Thee to be Our Lord.
Thee, the Father everlasting, all the earth doth worship.
To Thee all Angels; to Thee the Heavens and all the powers.
To Thee the Cherubim and Seraphim continually cry:
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of the
majesty of Thy glory.

The glorious choir of the Apostles praises Thee.
The admirable company of Prophets praises Thee.
The White-robed army of the Martyrs praises Thee.
Thee, the holy Church throughout the world doth confess:

The Father of infinite majesty;
Thine adorable, true, and only Son;
Also, the Holy Ghost, the Comforter.
Thou, O Christ, art the King of glory.
Thou art the everlasting Son of the Father.

Thou, having taken upon Thee to deliver man,
didst not disdain the Virgin's womb.
Thou, having overcome the sting of death,
hast opened to believers the Kingdom of Heaven.

Thou sittest at the right hand of God, in the glory of the Father.
Thou, we believe, art the judge to come.
We beseech Thee, therefore, to help Thy servants,
whom Thou hast redeemed with Thy Precious Blood.
Make them to be numbered with Thy Saints in glory everlasting.
O Lord save Thy people and bless Thine inheritance.
And govern them, and exalt them forever.

Day by day we bless Thee.
And we praise Thy name forever; yea, forever and ever.
Vouchsafe, O Lord, this day, to keep us from sin.
Have mercy on us. O Lord, have mercy on us.
Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we have trusted in Thee.
In Thee, O Lord, have I trusted; let me not be confounded forever.

Blessed art thou, O Lord, the God of our Fathers.

And worthy to be praised and glorified forever.
Let us bless the Father and the Son, with the Holy Ghost.
Let us praise and magnify Him forever.

The Angelic Trisagion

The Angelic Trisagion

In the name of the FATHER, and of the SON,
and of the HOLY SPIRIT. Amen.

V.Lord, open my lips.
R.And my mouth shall declare Thy praise.

V.O God, come to my assistance.
R.O Lord, make haste to help me.

V.Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,

V.Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy  will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us  our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into  temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

The following part of the decade is repeated nine times

V.To Thee, O Blessed Trinity, be praise, and honor, and thanksgiving, for ever and  ever!
R.Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of hosts. Heaven and earth are filled with Thy glory.
V.Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
R.As it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen.

End of Decade

R.Be praised and exalted above all things forever.

Let us pray,
Almighty, ever-living God, who has permitted us Thy servants, in our profession of  the true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of that  majesty to adore the Unity, grant, that by steadfastness in this same faith, we may be  ever guarded against all adversity: through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen
All: Set us free, save us, vivify us, O Blessed Trinity!

Prayers of Thanksgiving for Our Lady’s Assumption

Prayers of Thanksgiving for Our Lady’s Assumption

Adore the eternal FATHER with a PATER, Ave, and Gloria ; then say,
I ADORE Thee, Eternal FATHER, my LORD and my GOD, in union with all the heavenly host, rendering Thee infinite thanks for every grace and favour Thou hast granted to Mary, most holy Virgin, thy wellbeloved daughter, and, above all, for that height of power to which Thou didst exalt her by her Assumption into heaven.

Adore the Eternal SON with a PATER, Ave, and Gloria ; then say
I ADORE Thee too, Eternal SON, my GOD, my LORD, and my REDEEMER, in union with all the heavenly host, rendering Thee infinite thanks for every grace and favour Thou hast granted to Mary, Virgin most blessed, thy well-beloved Mother, and, above all, for the gift of highest wisdom with which Thou didst glorify her on her Assumption into heaven.

Adore the HOLY GHOST with a PATER, Ave, and Gloria ; then say

I ADORE Thee also, O HOLY GHOST, the PARACLETE, my GOD and my LORD, and in union with all the heavenly host I render Thee infinite thanks for every grace and favour Thou hast granted to the most blessed Virgin, thy most loving Spouse, and, above all, for that most perfect and divine charity with which Thou didst inflame her most holy and most pure heart in the act of her most glorious Assumption into heaven. In the name of thy most chaste Spouse, I humbly beg of Thee to grant me the grace of remission of all my most grievous sins which I have committed from the first moment when I was able to
sin until this day, for all of which I grieve exceedingly, firmly purposing rather to die than ever again offend thy Divine Majesty; and relying on the high merits and most powerful protection of this thy most loving Spouse, I beg of Thee to grant me the most precious gift of thy grace and Divine love, by vouchsafing me those lights and special helps whereby thy eternal providence has determined to will my salvation, and to bring me to Thyself.

Then say three times,
HOLY Mary, all ye holy men and women, saints of GOD, intercede for us to our LORD, that we may merit his help and be saved. Amen.

To the Most Blessed Virgin
I ACKNOWLEDGE thee and I venerate thee, most holy Virgin, Queen of Heaven, Lady and Mistress of the Universe, as Daughter of the Eternal FATHER, Mother of his well-beloved SON, and most loving Spouse of the HOLY SPIRIT. Kneeling at the feet of thy great Majesty, with all humility I pray thee, through that divine charity with which thou wast so bounteously enriched on thy Assumption into heaven, to vouchsafe me favour and pity, placing me under thy most safe and faithful protection, and receiving me into the number of thy happy and highly-favoured servants. Deign, Mother and Lady most tender, to accept my miserable heart, memory, will, powers, and senses, internal and external ; govern them all in conformity to the good pleasure of thy Divine Son, as I intend by my every thought and deed to give thee glory and honour. And, by that wisdom with which thy well-beloved Son glorified thee, I pray and beseech thee to obtain for me light that I may clearly know myself and my own nothingness, and in particular my sins, that so I may hate and loathe them ; and that I may discern the snares of the infernal enemy, and all his modes of attack, whether open or hidden. Above all, most tender Mother, I beg of thee the grace of N. Say three times,

Virgin of all virgins,
To thy shelter take us,
Gentlest of the gentle,
Chaste and gentle make us.

Let us pray.
PARDON, O LORD, we beseech Thee, the sins of thy servants; that we, who of our own actions know not how to please Thee, may be saved by the intercession of the Mother of thy SON, our LORD. Through the same CHRIST our LORD. Amen. May the almighty and merciful LORD, FATHER, SON, and HOLY
GHOST, bless and preserve us. Amen

The Twenty-Four "Glory be to the Father's" Novena

The Twenty-Four "Glory be to the Father's" Novena

The Twenty-four "Glory be to the Father's" novena can be said at any time. However, the ninth to the seventeenth of the month is particularly recommended, for on those days the petitioner joins in prayer with all those making the novena.

The "Glory be to the Father" praising the Holy Trinity is said twenty-four times each of the nine days, in thanksgiving for all the blessings and favors given to Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus during the twenty-four years of her life. In addition, this, or a similar prayer may be used:

"Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, I thank Thee for all the blessings and favors Thou hast showered upon the soul of Thy servant Theresa of the Child Jesus, during the twenty-four years she spent here on earth, and in consideration of the merits of this Thy most beloved Saint, I beseech Thee to grant me this favor, if it is in accordance with Thy most Holy Will and is not an obstacle to my salvation."

After this Prayer, follow the twenty-four "Glory Be's," between each of which may be included this short prayer:

"Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus, pray for us."

ORIGIN OF THE NOVENA

Father Putigan, a Jesuit, began the Novena to Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus on December 3, 1925, asking the glorious Saint for one great favor. For nine days he recited the "Glory be to the Father" twenty-four times thanking the Holy Trinity for the favors and Graces showered on Saint Theresa during the twenty-four years of her life on earth. The priest asked Saint Theresa, that as a sign that his novena was heard he would receive from someone a freshly plucked rose. On the third day of the novena, an unknown person sought out Father Putigan and presented him with a beautiful rose.

Father Putigan began the second novena on December 24 of the same year, and as a sign, asked for a white rose. On the fourth day of this novena one of the Sister-nurses brought him a white rose saying:  "Saint Theresa sent you this."

Amazed, the priest asked:  "Where did you get this?"

"I was in the chapel," said the Sister, "and as I was leaving I passed the altar above which hangs the beautiful picture of Saint Theresa. This rose fell at my feet. I wanted to put it back into the bouquet, but a thought came to me that I should bring it to you."

Father Putigan received the favors he had petitioned of the Little Flower of Jesus, and promised to spread the novena to increase devotion to, and bring her more honor.

In this fashion, from the ninth to the seventeenth of each month, those who want to participate in the Twenty-four "Glory be to the Father's" novena, should add to those of their own, the intentions of all who are at that time making the novena, thus forming one great prayer in common.

Canticle of the Sun

Canticle of the Sun

Most high, omnipotent, good Lord,
Praise, glory and honor and benediction all, are Thine.
To Thee alone do they belong, most High,
And there is no man fit to mention Thee.

Praise be to Thee, my Lord, with all Thy creatures,
Especially to my worshipful brother sun,
The which lights up the day, and through him dost Thou brightness give;
And beautiful is he and radiant with splendor great;
Of Thee, most High, signification gives.

Praised be my Lord, for sister moon and for the stars,
In heaven Thou hast formed them clear and precious and fair.

Praised be my Lord for brother wind
And for the air and clouds and fair and every kind of weather,
By the which Thou givest to Thy creatures nourishment.
Praised be my Lord for sister water,
The which is greatly helpful and humble and precious and pure.

Praised be my Lord for brother fire,
By the which Thou lightest up the dark.
And fair is he and gay and mighty and strong.

Praised be my Lord for our sister, mother earth,
The which sustains and keeps us
And brings forth diverse fruits with grass and flowers bright.

Praised be my Lord for those who for Thy love forgive
And weakness bear and tribulation.
Blessed those who shall in peace endure,
For by Thee, most High, shall they be crowned.
Praised be my Lord for our sister, the bodily death,
From the which no living man can flee.
Woe to them who die in mortal sin;
Blessed those who shall find themselves in Thy most holy will,
For the second death shall do them no ill.

Praise ye and bless ye my Lord, and give Him thanks,
And be subject unto Him with great humility.

The Canticle of the Creatures

The Canticle of the Creatures

Most High, all-powerful, good Lord,
all praise is yours, all glory, all honor,
and all blessing.

To you, alone, Most High, do they belong.
No mortal lips are worthy to pronounce your name.

All praise be yours, my Lord,
through all you have made,
and first my lord Brother Sun, who brings the day;
and through whom you give us light.

How beautiful is he, how radiant in all his splendor;
Of you, Most High, he bears the likeness.

All Praise be yours, my Lord, through Sister Moon
and the stars; in the heavens you have made them,
bright, and precious, and fair.

All praise be yours, my Lord,
through Brothers wind and air, and fair and stormy,
all the weather's moods,
by which you cherish all that you have made.

All praise be yours, my Lord, through Sister Water,
so useful, humble, precious and pure.

All praise be yours, my Lord, through Brother Fire,
through whom you brighten up the night.

How beautiful is he, how cheerful!
Full of power and strength.

All praise be yours, my Lord, through our Sister
Mother Earth, who sustains us and governs us,
and produces various fruits with colored flowers
and herbs.

All praise be yours, my Lord,
through those who grant pardon for love of you;
through those who endure sickness and trial.

Happy are those who endure in peace,
By You, Most High, they will be crowned.
All praise be yours, my Lord, through Sister Death,
From whose embrace no mortal can escape.

Woe to those who die in mortal sin!
Happy those she finds doing your will!
The second death can do them no harm.

Praise and bless my Lord, and give him thanks
And serve him with great humility.
