St. Alphonsus De Liguori to Jesus Christ, to Obtain His Holy Love

St. Alphonsus De Liguori to Jesus Christ, to Obtain His Holy Love

My crucified Love, my dear Jesus! I believe in Thee, and confess Thee to be the true Son of God and my Saviour. I adore Thee from the abyss of my own nothingness, and I thank Thee for the death Thou didst suffer for me, that I might obtain the life of divine grace. My beloved Redeemer, to Thee I owe all my salvation. Through Thee I have hitherto escaped hell; through Thee have I received the pardon of my sins. But I am so ungrateful, that, instead of loving Thee, I have repeated my offenses against Thee. I deserve to be condemned, so as not to be able to love Thee any more: but no, my Jesus, punish me in any other way, but not in this. If I have not loved Thee in times past, I love Thee now; and I desire nothing but to love Thee with all my heart. But without Thy help I can do nothing. Since Thou dost command me to love Thee, give me also the strength to fulfill this Thy sweet and loving precept. Thou hast promised to grant all that we ask of Thee: You shall ask whatever you will and it shall be done unto you. Confiding, then, in this promise, my dear Jesus, I ask, first of all, pardon of all my sins; and I repent, above all things, because I have offended Thee, O Infinite Goodness! I ask for holy perseverence in Thy grace till my death. But, above all, I ask for the gift of Thy holy love. Ah, my Jesus, my Hope, my Love, my All, inflame me with that love which Thou didst come on earth to enkindle! "Tui amoris me ignem accende." For this end, make me always live in conformity with Thy holy will. Enlighten me, that I may understand more and more how worthy Thou art of our love, and that I may know the immense love Thou hast borne me, especially in giving Thy life for me. Grant, then, that I may love Thee with all my heart, and may love Thee always, and never cease to beg of Thee the grace to love Thee in this life; that, living always and dying in Thy love, I may come one day to love Thee with all my strength in heaven, never to leave off loving Thee for all eternity.

O Mother of beautiful love, my advocate and refuge, Mary, who art of all creatures the most beautiful, the most loving, and the most beloved of God, and whose only desire it is to see him loved! ah, by the love thou bearest to Jesus Christ, pray for me, and obtain for me the grace to love him always, and with all my heart! This I ask and hope for from thee. Amen.

Hymn of Praise to Jesus II

Hymn of Praise to Jesus II

Jesus, the very thought of Thee with sweetness fills the breast!
Yet sweeter far Thy face to see and in Thy presence rest.
No voice can sing, no heart can frame, nor can the memory find,
a sweeter sound than Jesus' name, the Savior of mankind.

O hope of every contrite heart! O joy of all the meek!
To those who fall, how kind Thou art! How good to those who seek!
But what to those who find? Ah! This nor tongue nor pen can show -
The love of Jesus, what it is, none but His loved ones know.

Jesus! Our only hope be Thou, as Thou our prize shalt be,
in Thee be all our glory now, and through eternity. Amen.

Hymn of Praise to Jesus

Hymn of Praise to Jesus

O Jesus, King most wonderful! Thou Conqueror renowned!
Thou Sweetness most ineffable! In whom all joys are found!
When once Thou visitest the heart, then truth begins to shine;
then earthly vanities depart; then kindles love divine.

O Jesu! Light of all below! Thou Fount of life and fire!
Surpassing all the joys we know, and all we can desire.
May every heart confess Thy name, and ever Thee adore;
And seeking Thee, itself inflame to see Thee more and more.

Thee may our tongues for ever bless; Thee may we love alone;
And ever in our lives express the image of Thine own. Amen.

Prayer of Trust and Confidence

Prayer of Trust and Confidence

O Lord, we ask for a boundless confidence and trust in Your divine mercy, and the courage to accept the crosses and sufferings which bring immense goodness to our souls and that of Your Church.

Help us to love You with a pure and contrite heart, and to humble ourselves beneath Your cross, as we climb the mountain of holiness, carrying our cross that leads to heavenly glory.

May we receive You with great faith and love in Holy Communion, and allow You to act in us, as You desire, for Your greater glory.

O Jesus, most adorable heart and eternal fountain of Divine Love, may our prayer find favor before the Divine Majesty of Your Heavenly Father. Amen.

Flower Prayers of St. Gertrude

Flower Prayers of St. Gertrude

To Jesus
Hail! Vivifying Gem of Divine Nobility!
Hail, Most Loving Jesus, Unfading
Flower of Human Dignity!
Thou art my Sovereign and only Good.

Promise: After reciting this prayer, St. Gertrude was visited by Our Lord, who told her: "Whosover salutes Me, as you have done, in reparation for the blasphemies and outrages which are poured forth on me throughout the world, when he is tempted at the hour of his death and accused by the demon, will be consoled by me.

To Mary
HAIL, White Lily, of the ever-peaceful and glorious Trinity!
Hail, Vermilion Rose, the delight of Heaven, of whom the King
of Heaven was born and by whose milk He was nourished!
Do thou feed our souls with the effusions of your divine influences.

Version taken from Herald of Divine Love
Hail O radiant Lily of the ever-peaceful Trinity! O resplendent rose of Heavenly Charm! Hail paradise of delights, O most beautiful habitation of God!

Promise: During an apparition of the Blessed Mother, St. Gertrude noted that the Holy Trinity was depicted under the form of a white lily with three petals. The Blessed Mother made it known that she would exert her influence with the Holy Trinity on behalf of those who saluted her as the White Lily of the Trinity and the Vermilion Rose of Heaven. She then added: "I will appear at the hour of death to those who salute me thus, in such glory that they will anticipate the very joys of Heaven."

Prayer to Jesus of Nazareth

Prayer to Jesus of Nazareth

BEHOLD me at thy feet, O JESUS of Nazareth; behold the most miserable of creatures, who presents himself before Thee, humbled and penitent. Have mercy on me, O LORD, according- to thy great mercy. I sinned, and my sins were committed against Thee, O GOD of infinite bounty. O JESUS, hear my prayers, graciously hear, O loving FATHER, the requests I lay at thy feet: cast a favourable look on my soul, Thou who art the loving FATHER of men, the Supreme Judge, the King of Heaven and of earth, the true benefactor of the wretched. Come then to my assistance, O JESUS of Nazareth. Grant me the graces which I ask of Thee, kneeling at thy feet. My soul belongs to Thee, because Thou hast created and redeemed it with thy Precious Blood. May thy work not be in vain. Turn, O loving FATHER, thy regard upon me and bless me. O GOD of mercy, have pity on me; pardon me, who am thy son; deal not severely with me; give me tears of repentance; pardon me as Thou didst pardon the penitent thief; watch over me from the height of Heaven and bless me. Amen.

Prayer to Jesus, Lover of Children

Prayer to Jesus, Lover of Children

O JESUS, friend of children, who from thy most tender years didst grow visibly in wisdom and in grace before GOD and men; who at the age of twelve wast seated in the Temple, in the midst of the doctors, listening to them attentively, humbly asking them questions, and exciting their admiration by the prudence and wisdom of thy discourse; who didst receive so willingly the children, blessing them and saying to thy disciples: Let them come to Me, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven, inspire me as Thou didst inspire Blessed Peter Canisius, model and guide of the perfect Catechist, with a profound respect and a holy affection for childhood, a taste and a marked devotion for instructing them in Christian doctrine, a special aptitude in making them understand its mysteries and love its beauties. I ask this of Thee, through the intercession of the blessed Virgin Mary. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lord

Prayer to Our Lord

O UNCREATED Word, exemplar and creator of all things, redeemer of men, who didst bestow on blessed Albert a powerful mind to contemplate all beings in their dependence one on another, from GOD and his infinite perfections to the constellations of Heaven, and the most minute of terrestrial creatures with all their wonderful qualities; grant that I too may understand, according to the humble proportion of my intellectual gifts, the bond which binds together the human sciences in their diversity, and the mutual assistance they can render one another in their common service of the one truth. Then shall I value them all, as well as those who cultivate the various branches of them, and I shall summon up in desire the blessed hour when all the learned shall agree to place their persevering labours, their acquired knowledge, and their many discoveries at the service of the Faith. I beg this favour of Thee, O LORD, for thy glory, for the honour of thy holy Church, and for the salvation of souls purchased by thy Precious Blood. Amen.

Prayer for Grace to do the Will of God

Prayer for Grace to do the Will of God

GRANT me, most kind JESUS, thy grace, that it may abide with me, labour with me, and persevere with me to the end. Grant me ever to desire and to will that which is the more acceptable to Thee, and pleases Thee more dearly.

May thy will be mine, and my will ever follow thine, and be in closest accord with it. May it be my one care to will and to be unwilling with Thee, and may I be unable to will or not will anything but what Thou willest or willest not.

Petitions of Saint Augustine

Petitions of Saint Augustine

LORD JESUS, may I know myself and know Thee.  And desire nothing save only Thee. May I hate myself and love Thee. May I do everything for the sake of Thee. May I humble myself and exalt Thee.  May I think of nothing except Thee. May I die to myself and live in Thee. May I receive whatever happens as from Thee. May I banish self and follow Thee. And ever desire to follow Thee.

May I fly from myself and fly to Thee, That I may deserve to be defended by Thee. May I fear for myself and fear Thee, And be among those who are chosen by Thee. May I distrust myself and trust in Thee. May I be willing to obey on account of Thee. May I cling to nothing but to Thee. May I be poor for the sake of Thee. Look upon me that I may love Thee. Call me that I may see Thee, And ever and ever enjoy Thee. Amen.

Prayer for Light and Grace

Prayer for Light and Grace

INEFFABLE CREATOR, who, of the treasures of thy wisdom hast formed the nine choirs of Angels, and set them on high above the heavens in a wonderful order, and hast exquisitely fashioned and knit together all parts of the universe; do Thou, who art the true fountain and one principle of light and wisdom, deign to shed the brightness of thy light upon the darkness of my understanding, and thus to disperse the twofold darkness of sin and ignorance wherein I was born. O Thou, who makest eloquent the tongues of babes, instruct my tongue, and pour forth on my lips the grace of thy blessing. Grant me acuteness in understanding what I read, power to retain it, subtlety to discern its true meaning, and clearness and ease in expressing it. Do Thou order my beginnings, direct and further my progress, complete and bless my ending-; Thou who art true GOD and true Man, who livest and reignest world without end. Amen.

Name of Jesus Prayer

Name of Jesus Prayer

O GOOD JESUS! O most tender JESUS! O most sweet JESUS! O JESUS, Son of Mary the Virgin, full of mercy and kindness! O sweet JESUS, according to thy great mercy, have pity on me! O most merciful JESUS, I entreat Thee by that Precious Blood of thine, which Thou didst will to pour forth for sinners, to wash away all my iniquities, and to look upon me, poor and unworthy as I am, asking humbly pardon of Thee, and invoking this holy Name of JESUS. O Name of JESUS, sweet Name! Name of JESUS, Name of joy!  Name of JESUS, Name of strength! Nay, what meaneth the Name of JESUS but SAVIOUR? Wherefore, O JESUS, by thine own holy Name, be to me JESUS, and save me. Suffer me not to be lost me, whom Thou didst create out of nothing. O good JESUS, let not my iniquity destroy what thy almighty goodness made.

O sweet JESUS, recognize what is thine own, and wipe away from me what is not of Thee! O most kind JESUS, have pity on me while it is the time of pity, and condemn me not when it is the time of judgment.

The dead shall not praise Thee, LORD JESUS, nor all those who go down into hell. O most loving JESUS! O JESUS, most longed for by thine own ! O most gentle JESUS ! JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, let me enter into the number of thine elect. O JESUS, salvation of those who believe in Thee; JESUS, consolation of those who fly to Thee. JESUS, Son of Mary the Virgin, pour into me grace, wisdom, charity, chastity, and humility, that I may be able perfectly to love Thee, to praise Thee, to enjoy Thee, to serve Thee, and make my boast in Thee, together with all those who invoke thy Name, which is JESUS. Amen

The Chaplet of Mercy and Forgiveness

The Chaplet of Mercy and Forgiveness
(Using Regulary Rosary Beads)

This chaplet was composed by Chorbishop Joseph Saidi of Worcester, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Father Saidi was the pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Maronite Catholic Church from 1947 until his retirement in August 1977.

Begin by blessing yourself and kissing the Crucifix. Looking at the crucifix, say:
Lord Jesus, we believe in You as You are the Son of Mary and the Son of the Living God, Creator and Redeemer.  You came from heaven to earth to save all mankind.  You are the Savior of the World.

You taught us to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, now and forever. Amen

On all of the "Our Father" beads, instead of the "Our Father," say:
"Merciful Jesus, our Redeemer, You said, "ask and you shall receive."  We humbly ask You to hear our prayer, forgive us our sins and grant us Your peace and salvation.  We praise You now and forever."  Amen

On all of the "Hail Mary" beads, instead of the "Hail Mary," say:
"Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us."

At the end of each decade say:
Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, intercede for us."

Conclude with:
Most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, intercede for us, for the forgiveness of our sins, peace and eternal salvation from your loving Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of the Living God, and we praise you, we bless His name now and forever."

Glory be to the Father...

Prayer to Jesus our Redeemer

Prayer to Jesus our Redeemer

O JESUS, SON of the living GOD, my SAVIOUR and REDEEMER, behold us prostrate at thy feet. We beg pardon, and make this act of reparation for all the blasphemies uttered against thy holy Name, for all the outrages committed against Thee in the most holy Sacrament of the altar, for all irreverence shown to thy most blessed and immaculate Mother, and for all the calumnies spoken against thy spouse, our holy Mother, the Catholic Church. O JESUS, who didst say: whatever you shall ask the FATHER in my Name, that I will do, we pray and beseech Thee for our brethren who are living in danger of sin, that Thou wouldst preserve them from the seductions of apostasy. Save them who stand over the abyss; give them light and knowledge of the truth, power and strength in the conflict against evil, and perseverance in faith and active charity. And therefore, most merciful JESUS, do we pray to the FATHER in thy Name, with whom Thou livest and reignest, in the unity of the HOLY SPIRIT, world without end. Amen
